Faith in the Middle of Rubbles

Faith in the Middle of Rubbles

In the quiet morning of October 15, 2013, a 7.2 magnitude earthquake hit Bohol, Philippines and the neighboring provinces.  Though separated by miles of sea, the tremor can be felt in where  I stay in Cebu City. Tens of churches were destroyed and hundreds lost their lives, not counting millions of people affected.  Electricity was cut off, roads became impassable, no more supply of water, food and medicine and horror stories of pain and grief my countrymen suffered them all.

But despite of all these things, nobody blamed God (as far as I knew it).  We can still smile, and even laugh at ourselves.  It’s an indomitable spirit of being happy within that nothing outside can destroy and bring us into despair.

We have sent water and food to those who were affected.  And have no intention of stopping until they will recover.  We know that life is not easy on their side.  But I know that we as a nation will survive.

It is out opportunity to show that we are a brothers.  And that we care for each other.  God is always good.  This is nothing but a part of His plan to make us stronger.
