The one and only motivator?
it seems that in the end desire may be one of the strongest motivators or even the strongest or only motivator to achieve success. As you may know we have been working from the book Think and Grow Rich in which indeed is stated that desire is one of the major prerequisites for success.
And this page started as a personal page from Guus, so please find below his story for now. We are working to make this into a page ‘anything desire’ soon.
Original personal story on the page desire
Today I noticed what desire can do. I was even amazed with myself what happened.
I am trying to inspire and be a coach to a young man from a poor family in my neighborhood and was checking his assignment: writing down his dream in life. He did not really understand yet what I meant as he was thinking more in investment, so money going out, not in. In order to make him think bigger, try to make clear to him that virtually anything is possible in life, I tried to convey he could put his mind to a million dollar, or ten million dollar, or ten thousand dollar. Or do nothing. While trying to express the ten million dollar type thing I imagined it somewhere in front of me and started running towards it AS IF IT WERE REALLY THERE. Amazingly i felt a lot of excitement myself and really started running towards it naturally. Amazing, what imagination can do!
Some more about desire
And read the post inspirational or not, We guess that’s indeed about the desire Napoleon Hill is talking about. And just after that we encountered again something in Think and Grow Rich, more or less related to it, but more to desire:
The steps call for no “hard labor”. They call for no sacrifice. They do not require one to become ridiculous or credulous. To apply them calls for no great amount of education. But the successful application of these six steps does call for sufficient imagination to enable one to see, and to understand, that accumulation of money (read ‘achieved success’) cannot be left to chance, good fortune, and luck. One must realize that all who have accumulated great fortunes first did a certain amount of dreaming, hoping, wishing, desiring and planning before they acquired money (read ‘achieved success’) .
You may as well know, right here, that you can never have riches in great quantities unless you can work yourself into a white heat of desire for money (read ‘achieved success’) , and actually believe you will possess it.
Lack of desire
You may not feel any desire as of now. Or never have felt it. As desire is the starting point you will probably go nowhere without desire.
If you don’t feel it, don’t worry. You can always ignite it or re-ignite it. Check our page desire exercises how you can light or relight your desire.
