Top inspirational sites

Well, it seems my page top inspirational sites scores quite high in Google. Or many people are searching for something like that relatively a lot. So maybe I should work a bit more on that to promote this site, as the inspirational, motivational and success stuff doesn’t really seem to work yet.

And still, not sure why I can’t find people to make something work. The last few days, weeks I hardly even got any further progress with my current large project, the largest project I have ever worked on. And recently hardly any new customers or work from current customers. And as I just wrote in my Dutch blog I am more and more amazed and annoyed how the world works, like paying spammers a lot and paying people trying to do an honest job not so much. Or is that just me?

And  yes, the more I think about it, it seems large companies with their policies and procedures seem to be in power at the moment, as today I had several experiences with e.g. bank procedures that are not really customer friendly, human friendly.

And still struggling with the current financial system, e.g. that ‘everything’ seems to be paid by advertising, not by paying for work that people actually do.

So well, maybe spend some time on the top inspirational sites stuff as I could use some inspiration myself right now.

Shell tax evasion Philippines

So it seems I have a new cause next to my quest about Globe hacking websites as last week I met a former customs officer who was very concerned about an issue that smells like tax evasion, or more probably just fraud, by Shell Philippines. And the concern was not only about Shell, but also about the government not following up or allowing Shell to get away with it, costing The Philippines billions of pesos, so tens of millions of US dollars.

So I was given a webpage (Shell tax free) about the issue, but being a bit knowledgeable about internet I think that site/page is not enough to make known to the world what has been going on here and is probably still going on, partly because it is partly in Tagalog. So related to my Globe cause I think I’ll make a similar page related to the Shell issue in this site, stating e.g. some facts in chronological order. Maybe let’s start with some referrals to other pages about the subject doing some Google search:

Responsive web design

I am not sure how to relate this post to inspiration or success, but a short message from Seth Godin made me realize how annoyed I am with recent websites, or actually webdesigns that probably claim to be responsive, but that are actually just designs suited to all kinds of mobile devices like tablets. To me ‘responsive web design’ means that in most cases you would probably have to make two or more web designs, each suited to a different device category, or maybe better called screen category.

And I guess I am a bit old fashioned just using a computer and a screen (16×9) and a keyboard, but most recent websites only show very little information in very large letters and with large icons, which don’t make much sense on an ordinary computer. And this tells me that most modern websites, probably sold as ‘modern redesign’ or ‘responsive’ are actually not responsive, but just suitable for small screens and touch screen devices. And I did not recently check statistics on that from the many websites I manage, but I am quite sure many people still use old fashioned computers and browsers like me.

Shame on the industry.

Online report of the way to success

Recently I have been thinking a lot of what to write here. And one of the things is that I want to write more inspirational stuff in the pages part of the site. But that is not ‘here’, the posts part of the site. And another thing is that I wanted especially the posts part of the site to be a kind of diary of my road to success using the Principles of Success as described by Napoleon Hill in his book Think and Grow Rich. But the last part is not that easy, as the big project I am working on includes quite some stuff I don’t want everybody to know, especially not Globe and PLDT. But maybe for some parts I will need them and somehow I am also starting to believe more and more that ‘peace’ is better than ‘war’ and that competition should be on quality and service, not price or putting the other party down.

So that is what I learned from Napoleon Hill and that is the main reason why I am taking on this challenge, that is why I think it can work. As I can compete on service, as service is the only thing a company is all about: serving people. And yes, of course shareholders need to be paid and employees need to be happy and be paid. But in the end, the only reason why companies exist is to serve customers, to provide some kind of service or product, nothing more, nothing less. And that is what the big industries seem to forget the last decade or decades or so. As recently it seems to be all about shareholders value and profit and sometimes employees.

And for long I thought it was a combination of all, but the more I think about it, the more I am convinced that companies are all about serving customers, nothing more, nothing less. So indeed, something like the customer is always right, always.

Customer service Globe Philippines

For quite some time I have been communicating with Globe about some web pages that are cut off somewhere in the middle when using our Tattoo@home connection. And with ‘quite some time’ I mean something like half a year or so, which I think is quite long for an outstanding support request for a company like Globe.

And I didn’t really want to write about it, but today I got another request through Twitter for:

  • Account owner’s name.
  • Account number.
  • Birth date.
  • Mother’s maiden name.
  • Complete billing address.

And those details I provided a long time ago on a similar request through e-mail, even though some things don’t really make sense to me as it is a company account, and I don’t see how my mother’s maiden name is related to that company and I also don’t know if they mean the birth date of our company or my own birth date. But also then, I don’t see what my birth date has to do with the company account that is experiencing the issue of cut off web pages.

So apparently Globe has problems with their customer support, as it seems the support staff can’t find the records of the issue I reported, even though I provided the different ticket numbers related to my concern.

Anyhow, I guess the whole thing has to do with the malware insertion they do, so I guess nobody wants to touch it, not even the account manager I know personally.

But yes, recently I am using anything, positive or negative experiences, to my own benefit. So Globe, be careful, as I think in the end you won’t make it with this kind of customer support.
